Elizabeth (Betsy) Cauble

PhD, MSW, CE Director Preferra

Betsy retired from Kansas State University in May 2019. During her 25 years at KSU, Dr. Cauble taught every course in the social work curriculum. Her prior experience includes serving as a child welfare administrator at Franklin County Children's Services in Columbus, Ohio, as director of a hospital social work department, as a family therapist, custody mediator, research project director, and foster parent. Dr. Cauble is one of Preferra’s champions in developing risk management content, the CE Director and presenter for Preferra’s Risk Management Education Program, and a board member.

Dina Larsen, CPHRM

Risk Management Instructor

Dina Larsen has been a dedicated member of Gallagher Bassett’s GB Healthcare team since 2006, where she currently serves as a Senior Risk Analyst. In her role, she provides a comprehensive range of risk and claim-related services to Preferra Insurance Company RRG, including preparing statistical analyses and reports reflecting claim and risk activity. She also provides claims management guidance and regularly fields calls for Preferra’s helpline. Prior to joining GB, Dina spent 18 years as a senior paralegal for a medical malpractice group of attorneys. She was responsible for preparing and maintaining medical record summaries, reviewing all pleadings filed with courts or hearing processes, confirming legal and document citations, and managing the office docketing system to ensure compliance with calendar deadlines and court rules. Dina also collaborated with co-defense counsel and clients on document preparation, production, and other litigation-related tasks. Dina holds the Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM) designation, an exclusive certification offered by the American Hospital Association (AHA) for healthcare risk managers, underscoring her commitment to excellence in the field.

Timothy Davis

PhD, LSCSW

Dr. Tim Davis is the Chair of the Department of Social Work at Fort Hays State University. Dr. Davis attended FHSU as a first generation college student, and received a BA in Sociology, emphasizing in criminal justice, and a minor in political science. He received a Masters degree in Social Work (MSW) from The University of Kansas with a concentration in clinical social work. He earned a Ph.D. in psychology from Northcentral University with an emphasis in health psychology-behavioral medicine. He is a Licensed Specialist Clinical Social Worker (LSCSW) in the State of Kansas. Dr. Davis has an extensive practice history in mental health, and continues to be active in clinical practice at HaysMed, where he specializes in bio-psycho-social assessment, individual and family psychotherapy, and consultation to the medical staff as an expert in behavioral health. Dr. Davis is very involved in developing and enhancing the practice of social work. In this capacity, he has served on multiple state level boards and advisory councils. He joined the Preferra’s Risk Management Education Program on 2025.
